Kitchens - A recipe for success
Increasingly today’s casual lifestyles have lead to a sea change in the way we live. Formal family dinners in the dining room are a rarity in today’s fast living, hectic world and it is far more common to eat a la Nigella in the kitchen. Consequently, dining rooms are getting smaller and kitchens tend to flow seamlessly into larger dining or sitting areas where families can congregate informally.
Traditionally, the kitchen was where food was prepared but not necessarily eaten. This was reserved for the dining room – or on your knee while watching television. Today, the kitchen has assumed a more central role and is now very definitely the heart of the home.
Around 35% of the homes we sell now have spacious kitchen/family rooms. Their size and style are a key concern for prospective buyers.
Another current trend is to incorporate French windows into kitchens so that doors can be thrown open during the summer to create a more pleasant eating environment and let more light in during the winter.
